I’ve been back in the middle east for 2 weeks, and being back has been a good (and interesting) experience. It’s been so nice to reconnect with friends and see all of my students again. Since it’s the beginning of the school year, things are still a bit chaotic, especially for me. There have been miscommunications between the Kindergarten and Primary departments, so one of them will have to rearrange their schedule because my classes overlap. Hopefully it will all get sorted soon.
Another exciting thing about living in this country are the power outages. As I’ve said before, the school has a generator, but they shut it off for a few hours in the middle of the night to give it a break. The price of fuel has greatly increased, so the generator is off even more now. During the day, the power has went out for at least 3 hours every day this week. It’s frustrating since there’s not a whole lot to do here except use the internet 🙂 Usually what I’ve been doing while the power is out is studying Arabic. I’m finally starting to be able to read it now! That’s a huge accomplishment because Arabic is so hard.
So far, everything is going well and I’m happy to get back into a routine.
