When I was planning my trip to Marrakech, I found out that I could take a day trip to Ouzoud Falls through a company called IGoMorocco. IGoMorocco is a local tour company based in Marrakech that offers several day trips as well as desert tours. They even offer transfers to and from other cities in Morocco!
For €21 per person, you get picked up at your hotel, transportation for the 2.5 hour drive, plus a local tour guide. After making my reservation on the website, I sent a quick WhatsApp message to verify that it was confirmed and that a driver would be at the hotel to pick me up.
The next morning I was picked up from my hotel and we began the journey. The drive is very scenic and you will get to see a lot of rural Morocco. After a stop or two to take a break, we made it to Ouzoud Falls.
Unfortunately, about five minutes before we got there, I got car sick. The winding roads and my sensitive stomach were a bad combination. Luckily, the people around me were very helpful and even offered to switch seats with me so I could be in the front.
When you first get there, you have to take a short walk that brings you to the top of the falls. This walk is not strenuous because you are already on the same level as the top, so you don’t have to walk up. There’s also a very scenic view on the way there!
From the top, you can look down below and watch as people in the boats go underneath the falls.
Then you will begin the descent down to the bottom of the falls, passing other waterfalls on the way down. The trek down isn’t too strenuous, but I would recommend bringing a pair of good shoes. If you don’t, you will probably lose traction and do a lot of sliding on the way down!
When you get to the bottom, you can get in a boat and the driver will take you through the falls. You WILL get wet, so be prepared! I don’t have any photos right by the falls since I didn’t want to get my camera or phone wet!
After the boat tour, you can get lunch at one of the restaurants or cafes. I had chicken skewers and fries, but there were a lot of other options too! You won’t get a lunch view like this at home!
After lunch, you’ll head back to the bus to leave, but you’ll see these monkeys first! You’re allowed to feed the monkeys peanuts, but be careful as they can get aggressive! One of the monkeys even climbed onto somebody’s head!
At the end of the tour, you have the option to tip the tour guide a few Euros. The tour guide did a great job and I would highly recommend IGoMorocco if you are considering going to Ouzoud Falls!
